Winchester Speedpark logoCLARKSBURG, Mass. (Dec. 8, 2017) — With a brand new season now just over a month away, an exciting new venue has signed on to host the 2018 series opener.

Officials at East Coast Snocross (ECS) announced on Friday a change of venue for the first race of 2018. Originally planned for Bennington, VT, the opener will now take place at Winchester Speedpark in Winchester, New Hampshire, on the original date of January 20-21.

"We're sad to say the previous location in southern Vermont was no longer practical for us," series owner Kurt Gagne said. "That location was handy for several of our teams, yet struggles with temperatures and snow making made it a major challenge to pull off."

Winchester Speedpark is a dual-track facility with an old-school motocross track on one side of the road, and a modern Supercross-style track on the other. Situated close to the Keene, N.H., and Brattleboro, Vermont markets, it's an ideal site and location for snocross. All the ingredients are there.

"This place has all the room we'll need to ensure a great season opener for our racers and fans," Gagne added. "Multi-time snocross champion Jason Boron feels it's a great facility, so we're going to Winchester Speedpark to put on a show. I hope fans will come out to see us at this exciting new venue."

Deb and Fran McNamara are the new owners of Winchester Speedpark. They purchased the facility back in June with a goal of continuing the tradition of great racing built by previous owners David and Suzanne Boisvert during a 16-year run. To learn more, visit www.winchesterspeedpark.com.

While the sport of snocross may be new to them, the owners are excited to bring it to town.

"We're very excited to bring sanctioned snocross back to southern New Hampshire," Deb McNamara said. "Our summer season of motocross went very well, so now we'd like to try a winter activity that draws people to our area. We have this great facility and feel it's time to utilize it for other activities. With our dealership (Winchester Motorsports) and MX tracks, this is a natural progression."

With a little cooperation from weather conditions, plans call for a pair of practice sessions at Winchester Speedpark prior to the season opener. Officials know the importance of getting seat time for all athletes prior to competing for points, and every effort to make that happen will be made.

East Coast Snocross Conx2share Series, presented by Woody's Traction and FXR, is an ISR-affiliated sanctioning body for snowmobile racing in the northeastern United States. ECS maintains a regional circuit intended to keep grassroots snocross racing healthy in this part of the country, while also cultivating new talent for tomorrow's factory-backed national Pro teams.
